"Volontariat in India" was created at Pondicherry in 1962, by a young Belgian social worker, Madeleine HERMAN, whose will was, as her inspiring person, abbé Pierre, always did, to "Serve FIRST the poorest of the poor": children, handicapped people, leprosy patients, unemployed people, gypsies, etc.

L'association indienne VUDHAVI KARANGAL a été fondée en 1991 par une jeune étudiante de Pondichéry, Alice Thomas.
Son projet : une réhabilitation complète des enfants orphelins ou abandonnés qui lui sont confiés. Les enfants reçoivent une éducation solide pour former des citoyens autonomes et honnêtes.

SATYA SPECIAL SCHOOL is a nonprofit, voluntary organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The school was started in June 2003 with 40 special children with various mental disabilities, like Autism, Down's syndrome, Mental Retardation, Learning difficulties and multiple disabilities.
