It is directed by a French designer, who combines a passion for traditional textiles of India with her Parisian touch. It is a place with a soul and driven by the strong ethical will of its designer. Since 2008, Takla Makan supports projects that match its business philosophy of high quality and shared benefits. The designer is particularly careful in selecting textiles from different regions of India and is engaged with skilled groups of artisans and NGOs: Himachal Pradesh for hand spun and hand woven wool, Rajasthan for hand block prints on silk and cotton, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu for hand woven cotton and silks, West Bengal for the kantha embroideries.

Takla Makan's creed is to encourage the traditional know-how and handmade work, by offering breathtaking and unique creations. The workshop in Pondicherry has a team of tailors and hand embroiderers who make the creations of Takla Makan come to life, faithful to its spirit of high quality craftsmanship. Like the oasis of the Taklamakan desert that marked out the legendary Silk Road between China and India, Takla Makan showroom is the stop-over for textiles lovers in Pondicherry!
