SITA is a cultural centre dedicated to South Indian arts and traditions located in Pondicherry. Sita organizes many courses and workshops also for Bharatanatyam, Bollywood, Ballet (western classical), and Hip Hop.

Dance Classes at SITA For all of you who like to dance and move, SITA cultural center has many different dance classes: from the traditional Barata Natyam to the graceful Classical Ballet, including the dynamic groove of Hip hop and Bollywood dance! For all from 7 to 77 years old, beginners and experienced ones!

a.Bharata Natyam: Bharata Natyam is a classical dance from south India. It is one of the oldest dances in India and it takes a long time to learn all of its aspects. This dance is a combination of a physical and a narrative aspect, since every gesture and facial expression mean something.

b.Ballet: The Ballet origins date back to the Italian Renaissance but it was then adopted by French kings and it is under the reign of Louis XIV that the basic positions were invented. It is a form of artistic expression but ballet also provides good posture, balance and flexibility.

c.Hip Hop: Hip Hop dancing roots go back to the 70's Bronx. As an alternative way of expression, it's often been a way for the dancers to free themselves from mainstream culture. Today it is practised all over the world and it takes the best of traditional cultures and dances.

d.Bollywood dancing: Dancing is an essential part of Bollywood movies. It takes its inspirations in Indian traditional dances (bharata natyam or folk dances) and adds modern dances elements. Bollywood dancing classes are more and more a hit because of their fun and joyous spirit.

Van Cleef Hall

66, pappamal Koil Street, Vaithikuppam, Pondicherry - 605012

An exclusive space for cultural exchange
Van Cleef Hall or VCH promotes art, culture and artists of Pondicherry and neighboring villages by providing a strong platform in a non-profit manner. It also has an exclusive space for cultural exchange, meetings and brainstorming ideas. It can also be a space for an artist for his communication and promotion in a special way i.e. a writer who signs his books and meets his fans or for a book reading session.

The team VCH speaks Tamil, Hindi, English and French.

Aim to achieve: Olaf Van Cleef, being himself an artist, wanted to help the up-coming and unknown artists. So he started this Van Cleef Hall. Apart from promoting art and artists, being situated in Vaithikuppam, VCH is specially inclined towards supporting the neighbouring community by offering the space to the nearby school and health centre for the purpose of creating awareness on garbage segregation, hygiene, mother and child nutrition and educational counselling.
